Are You Ready for a Blessing?

When I was a child, my family took a trip to Six Flags over Georgia. I can remember seeing the big roller coasters and hearing the screams from the people riding. I recall seeing Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck walking around. I was in awe of such a wonderful place. We saw a live action Batman play. Explosions and loudness were captivating to me. My young mind could barely take it all in. Finally, we got in line to ride the Batman. We spent hours in line going through tunnels and rails to get to the top.

Once the gate opened, I jumped on the seat and buckled in. An employee came up to me with a stick………Yes, the great stick of measurement. I was too short to get on the ride. As I stood there watching the rest of my family leave me to ride, I cried like a little baby. In my mind I was ready, but to the world I was not.

I think that’s how we are with God sometimes. We pray for blessings from our heavenly Father often. However, we become impatient when God’s perfect time does not match our personal agenda. We are saying, “God, I am ready.” On the other hand, we don’t read our bibles, we are quick to speak and slow to listen, and do whatever we want to do. I am guilty of this as well…just sayin’

Just like when I was a kid, we cry and whine when God is asking us to wait on Him.

Be patient and you will be thankful you did.

Today, I went with my church’s youth group to Six Flags over Georgia. The more I was at the park, I started to remember my childhood experience. I then saw the Batman Ride! I knew I was tall enough to ride. As I walked through those same tunnels and lines, I began to think on how much God has changed me.

This was the moment. I sat down in the seat with a big smile. As we got closer to the peak, I thanked God for the small things in life. Throughout the ride, I let it all out. I yelled at the top of my lungs as much as I could.

This may be simple to you, however, it’s symbolic to me. Before, I thought I was ready for something when I wasn’t. God knows when and how to bless you. Be patient with The Lord and the pay off will change your life. I am so thankful God is not on “my time.” He protected me from so many things I’ve asked for the sake of my will. I now ask for His will to be done. I tell God my desires, but unlike before, I don’t cry when I don’t get immediate results. Are you ready for a blessing?

14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
-Hebrews 6:14-15

God will fulfill His promise!
