The new year is here and quickly moving along. Isn’t it amazing how fast time goes by? Last year is gone and on we move towards 2017. I want you to think back at last year and ask yourself, “Was there a time when I didn’t trust God?” No matter what you answered, it’s in the past and God forgives us of our goof ups.
This year, let’s be intentional about trusting God more. God is listening and hears your prayers. Don’t believe me??? Then read James 4:2-3…
2 “You want something, but you don’t have it. So you kill. You want what others have, but you can’t get what you want. So you argue and fight. You don’t have what you want, because you don’t ask God. 3 When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason. You want to spend your money on your sinful pleasures.” – James 4:2-3 NIRV
Wow! When we pray and ask God for things, are we trusting God even if the answer is, “NO!” I mean, God does know what’s best for us right?…… Right!
Let’s focus on prayer and what God wants for us this year. Remember, our old selves have passed away and we are a new creation in Jesus Christ. So our own desires shouldn’t outweigh God’s desires.
With that said, here are my 2 questions for you:
- What are 2 things you’re asking or need God to do for you this year?
- How would you trust God if He didn’t answer your prayer the way you wanted?
